Resolve That Continuous Cybersecurity Improvement Is Your Only Option
It's late January. Here in the northern hemisphere it's cold even if days are getting longer. Time to check in:
How's that New Year's resolution going?
You resolved to be a better person, or something vague like that. Maybe you had a specific resolution involving working out more or eating better. How's that going?
Let's compare that to your New Year's cybersecurity improvement resolution. You had one, right? The one that said This year I will improve my cybersecurity expertise and performance?
We put a New Year's cybersecurity resolution out there for you in as few words as possible:
help others reach their goals by helping engage them in our cybersecurity process.
Well?
Let's do some benchmarking. The government of Taiwan recently released a report on foreign cyberattacks on its infrastructure including energy, water, communications, etc. The top-line number is that these attacks have risen by 6% from 2024 to 2025, meaning that the average number of cyberattacks per day went from 2.46 million (yes, million) in 2024 to 2.63 million cyberattacks per day in 2025. The chart at the head of this post shows the types of cyberattacks.
How does this compare to what you experience in your organization? When the attack frequency is at this level, it's a whole-of-organization cybersecurity effort. Because Taiwan is still functional, we'll say they were able to thwart these attacks; we'll say they 'get it.'
How about your organization? Do they get it? If so, how did you help that to happen?
We're here to encourage you to continue improving your cybersecurity talent in 2026 because your adversaries are improving their capacity.
Improvement is your best and most effective resolution.
Here at Pythia Cyber we resolved to continue talking about talent because it's your cybersecurity function's road to increased performance. It's the work-related goal that will improve your life, increase your organization's performance, and turn into a strategic advantage in gaining market share.
Stick with it.
